Berlin’s finest foodie, Mary Scherpe of Stil in Berlin, pushes fashion aside to tell us the food highlights at B&&B 2017
Mary Scherpe might just have the best job in the world. Over the last decade, her site – Stil in Berlin – has become the go-to reference for Berliners and visitors, as Scherpe eats her way through the city’s countless restaurants and pop-ups to tell us what’s worth tucking into. Sounds grueling, doesn’t it? Here’s the mouth-watering, belly-rumbling rundown of what was offered at B&&B 2017.
Who would’ve thought five years ago, that a hawker stall in a food court could be awarded a Michelin star? Well, street food finally enjoys the praise it deserves, and so this one’s gonna be special: Chan Hon Meng is coming to Berlin from Singapore to present his unique dishes from his Chinatown stall Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle, for which he received a star last year.

Jones Ice Cream

Don’t be put off by the long line of eager ice cream lovers at Jones’s truck. Arguably the most delicious ice cream in Berlin, their small-batch, artisanal creations are bold in flavour and smooth in texture. We promise it’ll be worth the wait. Don’t miss their best-seller: salted butter caramel!
Another darling of the Berlin food scene, providing enough caffeine to keep you energised for everything that will be going on during the three-day Festival of Style and Culture. Not only that, they’ll bring their uber-delicious cheesecake, which you’ll want to go back for again and again. And again.
The mean green of this barbecue powerhouse’s truck is noticeable from far, as will be the satisfied smiles of customers with burgers in hand. The two-time Burgers & Hip Hop winners smoke their meat for over 14 hours, and hand-make all their toppings and extras.
Joining two beloved food items has often been a winning concept for street food vendors and this truck from Hamburg is no exception, fusing sushi with burritos. A roll of rice wrapped in nori and filled with crab meat, chicken or tofu, with loads of veggies. Nutritious and outrageously delicious.
